City Council proposes wage increase for human services workers

SEATTLE - On June 20, 2023 The Seattle City Council blog released information regarding a resolution passed to increase wages for human service workers in District 1 - West Seattle and South Park. The article states that council members found that Human service workers are disproportionately BIPOC women and wages have stagnated due to discriminatory practices. The resolution proposes to increase wages by 7% while also adjusting for inflation. This news release is relevant to Real Change because it focuses on addressing the needs for underpaid service workers and the homeless.  Real Change’s mission is to provide opportunities for the homeless and the low-income individuals.  Real Change’s mission aligns with the content of this news release.
